Music is her thing!

We found out early on that Aubrey wouldn't be an athlete.  After three years of gymnastics, she could barely do a cartwheel.  And soccer, well let's just say she got the sportsmanship award.  :)  However, when she started piano almost a year ago, we knew immediately music was going to be her "thing".  She is so good at it, she loves it, and it is so wonderful hearing the sweet music in our home.  I am very proud of her.  She is living my dream of playing a musical instrument!  

It is either music or she can rider her scooter in her bathing suit really well too!!!

Opening day ceremonies!  Dalin looked so cute in his get up.  Although, he was the only one who untucked his shirt when he ran with his team out on the field.  UGH~ I can't wait to watch him play in his first game!  Little stud!

D threw me a party for to remember... 18 close friends and family at MB2 raceway.  (Indoor go-karting)  (the real fast ones)!  It was so AWESOME!  We had our own private room where there was food and karaoke and a pool table.  Then we got to race over and over again!

Thank you all who came and shared in such a fun night, thank you for my gifts.  TOO MUCH~ and thank you D for a great birthday!  I love you!

fulfilling a childhood dream...

To work a cash register was every kids fantasy right?

I helped out for 12 hours today at bake you happy.  My back is done!  The girls sold 750 cupcakes!!  I only ate 3!

I am rusty!!!

I had my screen test today.  I left with the feeling of if I get this one, it will be a miracle.  So we will see.

I basically felt rusty and out of my element.  But then it hit me.  I am rusty and out of my element!  I haven't worked in over 2 years!  UGH~  I did though, feel the same way after my GSN audition, so you never know!

My competition is a latin girl and a VERY sporty sort of rough girl.  So it might just come down to a look?

That is what I said when the team mom contacted me about all the things that Dalin needs for Baseball practice tomorrow...

Is that really necessary?  He is 5?!!

Meanwhile, it is expensive getting your kid into sports!  Jeesh!  I am so excited to watch him play though!  Go Angels!

She won!!!

For those of you who didn't watch it.  Kim won cupcake wars.  I have known for over three months.  She only told me and Denise and swore us to secrecy.  I did so good, I didn't even tell D.  I am so happy for her!!

Meanwhile, ironically I am testing for a new show on Thursday called Design Wars.  Can you believe that?  I am designing Kim's store and she was just on Cupcake Wars.  So funny.  Anyway, wish me luck.

He wants us to call him a taxi...

Yesterday Aubrey came in and said "Dalin is leaving."  We shrugged it off, but when we came downstairs, Dalin was outside with his backpack on.  Crying.  So the questions began.  We asked him where he was going?  He said he was leaving... "Where are you going?"  He said, "somewhere where it doesn't rain."  Darrin brought him inside and gently started probing.  We asked him how he was going to get there?  He said he needed us to call him a taxi.  We got a whole sob story about how he is going to live with another family.  I got about 3 minutes of it on video (but of course can't figure out how to upload it.)  In the end we convinced him to stay with us.  I unpacked his backpack and he had a shirt, sweatshirt and a picture of our family.  While it was very upsetting to Darrin, he wanted to get to the bottom of why he would say all those things and why he would want to leave us?  I was just beaming with pride at his genuine acting ability!

I lost my phone, got a new one, broke that one, got a to-go phone, Dalin dumped that in water, and now I am back to my broken one.  I can't text on it.  SUCKS~

Deb took me to see Cavalia for my birthday.  It was magnificent!!  After the show we got to go to the stables and see the horses.  I wanted to just stay the night in there.

Nie Nie Dialogues...

I have a few things on my mind at this late hour.  But I will just write about two.

1.  I saw an amazing movie tonight.  It is so wonderful to be taken to a place that leaves you speechless in the end and feeling like you are on top of the world.  Movies for me can do that.  It is RARE but it happens. Tonight with one of my B.F.F.'s we experienced it together and that is special too.

I realize I am not the only one who feels this way, but just hang with me on this one.  I admire her, that goes without saying.  I try to emulate her.  I faithfully follow her writing.  I talk about her like she is my dear friend.  Like I have known her for decades.  I feel like I have.  Anyway, if you haven't heard of her or her story, I dare you to look her up.  You will be changed.  I promise!

Hiking and stuff...

The girls and I have made it a goal to get out of the gym once a week and do something outdoors.  So we have gone hiking in the Hollywood hills two weeks in a row.  Uh~mazing!!

The "stuff" as referred to in the title is that Saugus beat Canyon tonight in overtime.  Bittersweet of course for a Canyon High Alum.  But man it was an exciting great game and a deserved win for the Centurions!

I discovered Drake's cherry fruit pies while in NY.  Those along with Entenmann's yum chocolate crumb donuts, pretty much got me through the rough patches!

My darling K Glass thinks of me and sends me boxes once and again.  This time though she sent me 8 boxes of them and I am trying to figure out how I can eat them all before the 21st of January. That is the best by date.  So far today I have had 3.  Thank goodness I went to the gym this morning.  I might try freezing them.

The one indulgence I allow myself on a regular basis (besides donuts and Dr. Pepper) is a mani/pedi.  It is amazing how nice toes can make you feel so much better!!!

Oh and basketball season has officially begun.  Sigh~

I have a vision!

I went to my second annual vision board or vision mapping party.  Jennie hosts it at her house and it is a fun way to get the new year started.  Last year I have to say that I was a skeptic.  I am by nature really.  But after looking at my vision board for last year and seeing how a lot of it happened, I really went into it this year with a different attitude.

For those of you who have no clue what I am talking about, basically you go through magazines and pull out pages that speak to you for whatever reason whether it be the words or pictures.  Sometimes you can be drawn to something and have no idea why or you can see a phrase or picture and know immediately that you want that to happen this year so you pull it.  Then you place all your cut outs on a board and place your board somewhere where you will see it daily so you can be reminded and keep those hopes and goals in your mind daily!  Try it, I dare you!

Menstrual cycle + new calling = an exhausting day!

I will not elaborate on the first part to spare any male readers out there, but lets just say that once a month is the only time I wish I was still pregnant!

I got called to teach 11 and 12 year olds in Sunday school.  My first reaction was how can I do this?  I have a 13 month old and a husband who is rarely at church.  But when Darrin chimed in and vowed to help by taking Halle 2nd hour (when he is there) and with the assumption that I will be released from my other calling so I am not overloaded, I thought okay, should be fun.  I do like that age group and I like learning right along with them.  I will try and stay positive!

On a happier note... BACK TO SCHOOL TOMORROW~ HOORAY!!!!

A good man!

My husband is a really great person.  I am reminded of that daily.  His job alone speaks volumes about his desire to serve others.  But if being an Emergency Room Physician isn't enough, he chooses to go to places like Haiti for a week to help the people there suffering from Cholera.

I don't tell him enough how proud of him I am.  I sometimes can't even find the right words to express how much I admire and look up to him.  If only there were more folks like him in the world, it would be a beautiful place!

My guilty pleasure...

I am a BIG reality show watcher.  I have seen every episode of Kendra.  So it was a lovely surprise to find out that Kendra and Hank would be at the opening of a new bakery on the corner here in Saugus.  I was set to go!  Got there and the line was about 30 minutes long.  When we got in, no Hank anywhere in sight which was why I was really there, I love him!   They only let you say hi to Kendra and take pics of her, not with her.  So lame!!!  Anyway, we snapped a few and then got a complimentary Hank and Kendra cookie and left.  They weren't letting anyone order food, but Darrin managed to get 6 cupcakes and a carrot cake to try.  I did get a glimpse of Hank and baby Hank when he walked to his car.  Halle snagged my Hank cookie and wouldn't give it up!  A bit of a disappointment all the way around, but I will still watch the show.

My friend Kim bakeuhappy.com brought over some cupcakes tonight and let me tell you if she doesn't win cupcake wars (airing on the food network on January 25th) I will be shocked.  MY FAV~

BTW I fell off the vegetarian wagon about 3 weeks ago when I went to Bob's Big Boy and had to have a chili cheeseburger.  And now I can't seem to get back on.  UGH~

Just keep dreaming...

Two days ago D showed me a house that is for sale and I can't get it out of my head!  It would be THE house that we would move to and raise our family and enjoy until we are old.  It has 5 yummy, usable acres which is the most exciting part for me.  The home is lovely with a pool and all kinds of other fun stuff.  It is on a culdesac.  It is right next to the golf course.  It is within our price range... it is really perfect!  But our hands are tied.  With a lawsuit and existing mortgage, well it is just not gonna happen.  So I will just keep dreaming!!

Back to the gym...

For those of you who know me, you will understand that going to the gym is the last thing I want to do.  I have however been going consistently for about 2 years now and it is really quite impressive.  Even to me! I took a week and a half off over the holidays and I was ready to go back.  I hit it hard this morning and gonna feel it tomorrow.  I would never go if I didn't have a workout partner.  Thanks Denny.  She kicks my butt and can kick most of the guys butts at the gym.  Anyway, I suppose it is a resolution that I can actually keep.  Working out.  Check.

NOW, is it time for my kids to go back to school??????!!?!!?!?!?!??

SNOW???

Yep, it is snowing!  It is so fun, we got home from church and changed really fast into our only warm clothes and played in the snow.  I haven't seen snow here since 1989.  WOWZA~ It is still coming down.  The kids are so excited!

Happy New Year!

We spent New Years Eve at the Warnicks annual party.  Pinata, bounce house, food and fun!

Woke up bright and early and headed to the parade.  3rd year in a row.  It was awesome.  Jason, Kristy and girls joined us and so did Laura and Colin.  After the parade we came home and all napped.  :)  Then we went to dinner and a movie with our favorite dates.  The Thurmans and the Ballards.  Here is to a great year!!  I can feel it is going to be wonderful.  Some kind of wonderful?!
