More about the concert...

So first of all, I got tickets an hour and a half before we left, turns out they were fantastic seats!  She put on such a good show!  Miss A was so happy!  But then about half way through, she asks if she can bring out a friend.  It was Justin Bieber!  What?!  I screamed like a 10 year old.  Aubrey couldn't stop jumping up and down and she almost cried she said!  What a great surprise!  Here are some pix from the night.  I am working on a video too, and will try to get that up!

Surprise...

It is late so I will post more tomorrow, but we surprised Aubrey tonight!  It was so much fun, I can't even tell ya!

Out of body experience...

I was asked to sing at little Mailey's baptism today.  I chose a medley of I am a Child of God and When I am Baptized.  My friend Breann accompanied me and played the guitar.  It was really lovely.  As we were singing, I was staring straight ahead and I could see me at 15 years old singing right to me in the now... and I was overcome.  I saw myself just as real as I am now and not 20 years ago!  I got choked up a bit and I then of course got mad at myself for doing so, but I pulled it together just in time to finish the song and come back into my body.  It was so strange!

I don't think a soul in there knew the significance of that room for me.  That very room where I was changed forever... 20 years ago!

 

Memory lane...

I love pictures!  I have hundreds and hundreds of them!  They are one of my most cherished items!  I love getting them out and looking at them.  I do about once a year.  This time I was searching for some pix of a good friend who is turing 40 and I have known him since he was 21... I have a couple good ones.  :)

When we had that big fire, it took me forever to carry out all my photo boxes to the car and it took up the whole back!  But I would die if anything happened to them.

Back to school!

As I said yesterday was a big day!!  They had a great first day back!

Last day...

We surprised the kids and took them to Magic Mountain for one last day of fun.  We hit 11 rides in 3 hours.  It was a HOT but fun day!

We found out their teachers and friends that are in their class and they are both happy!  I am beyond happy.  I don't know who's good side I got on, but we have had the best so far!!!

I am enjoying my role in PTA~ getting a little more involved each year.  This year, I got handed a binder of what I need to do to pull of grandparents day and I almost fell over.  Luckily I got Erinn to help me!  But it is a LOT of work!

And I am team mom for soccer too.  Did I mention that?  Ya, I am not biting off more than I can chew!  Ha!  All I wanna do is talk wedding with Liz :)

2 more days til school!

My hopes for my kids this school year:

Aubrey~ keeps her social side under control, doesn't get her b and d mixed up in words, makes even more friends, continues her love of learning.

Dalin~ loves his teacher, makes friends, learns his sight words, he is a good boy!

Those are just a few thoughts as this evening comes to an end... maybe something will come to me tomorrow.

Back to school feast...

I CANNOT take credit for this idea, but I loved it so much that we started our tradition tonight of a back to school celebration.  We invited our closest friends over and partied!  We had the kids toast to a great school year and asked them each what their hopes were for the year.  Some cute answers.  Thank you Nie Nie for the great idea!  

Derek is going back to school too of course!  

The feast consisted of tacos, beans, rice and fruit, chips and guac!

Why do you always land awesome jobs??  I am happy for you just as I always am, but today there is just a tinge of jealousy that I can't deny!  I am so happy we are close enough for me to say that!

One week left...

Summer break is almost over.  We went to Hurricane Harbor all day yesterday!  It was so fun!  I will have to do a re cap of all the great stuff we did this summer!

RATS~

Tonight was truly comical.  I go in our room and see Meggy looking intently under the bed, I call her, she doesn't move.  I know her well enough to know something is under there!  I go down next to her to try to distract her and she starts scratching... I now am sure something is under there!  I go and get D.  We start moving stuff from under the bed allowing Meg to get under there.  There it is, a little rat, on top of my wedding dress box.  We set out as a family to catch the thing.  After about 30 minutes, a huge mess and of course a few screams...  mostly from Darrin  :) We got him!  We put him outside, and praised Meggy for being the best mouser!

Footloose.  I am boycotting the new one.  There are just some movies that don't need to be re done!  While it looks good, I won't see it.  :(

ON that note.  I decided to let my kids watch the original tonight and two things are to be said, it is really short when you fast forward through all the inappropriate parts.  AND it is PG.  WHAT?  The rating system sure has changed these days!  Nowadays it would be for sure PG 13 and perhaps R.  NUTS~

I love that movie so much and my kids loved the dancing and singing parts and that it was filmed in Utah!  

I also would like to add it was another perfect beach day today!

Happy Birthday friend...

Soccer...

Last year we did AYSO, a region of soccer out here in our valley.  To say that I was disappointed is a very nice word to use!  I swore I would not do it again!

Cut to three months ago and Aubrey tells me she really wants to play soccer again!?  It is only fair to mention that Aubrey is amazing at a lot of things but I would not really call her an athlete.  She won the spirit award so that should tell you a thing or two...  But she got GREAT exercise and she had so much fun!  She was not privy to what mom was going through on the sidelines.  So for her, I gave in and let her play again.  It was a little late in the game so she was wait listed for a team.  :) I thought it was my out!

We found out yesterday she got on team!  Here I am having anxiety about this up coming season.  I hope and pray it is different and better from the last year!  I think I learned a few tricks to make it a tad easier I suppose!  But I just want to be as happy about it as she is!!

Here is to another year of soccer!

Let's not talk about how the uniforms don't fit at all!!!!!
