Shocking news...

In November Aubrey didn't pass her hearing test at school.  I was like... okay... but didn't do anything about it right away.  I then was in her class last week and her teacher said have you had Aubrey's eyes checked?  I said no, I need to do that.  She proceeded to say that she tells her that she has a hard time seeing the board.  So now I am like... hmmm okay... I made an appointment for today.  D and I both took her and as we sat in the room and the doctor was questioning her about the giant letters on the wall and she said she couldn't tell her what they were, our hearts both stopped.  Is our little girl blind?   The letters were HUGE!  I even went so far as to think she was faking.  All I could think is how on earth could she not see that?  The doctor kept going and making some adjustments and we discovered she is severely near sighted :( poor baby.  We had no idea!  She was -2.0 but they went ahead and put the drops in her eyes so she wouldn't strain and she tested her again.  It was a little better but still -1.75.  That is what D was when he got Lasik last week... we got her glasses that day and her face when she put them on was one I will never forget.  She was seeing things for the first time in a long time!  She looks so darling in her glasses and she doesn't mind wearing them at all!  Thank goodness!  She will have to wear them the rest of her life.  In fact her eyes will probably continue to get worse as she grows.  I had no idea that growth was a factor in eyesight.

  1. Not gonna lie, I cried reading this one. I thought of what she must have been going through not knowing what the heck was up with her eyes but still plugging along. She is an incredible young lady who now has the appropriate look for the Super Woman she is (she wore glasses too and looked almost as beautiful as A)! XOXOXO
